The history of the enterprise goes back to the 1970s and 1980s, when a team of scientists from the Institute of Metallurgy of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, headed by Irina Viktorovna Frishberg, carried out research in the field of metal powders production by a gas-phase method.

VMP was established in 1991 and became one of the first innovative enterprises in Russia, developing its own high technology in the industrial-scale production. In such a way, laboratory development turned into a large-scale production of metal powders and anticorrosive materials on their bases.
During the early years of operation, the main product was zinc-rich primers (ZFES®, ZINOL®), which proved themselves in many industrial enterprises and were stable demand. Therefore, at the end of the 1990s, VMP introduced new production capacities, and it certifies the quality management system in accordance with the ISO 9001 standard for further stable development.
In the 2000s, new anti-corrosive and protective-decorative materials for an increased use were developed and put into production, as well as fire-proof paints PLAMCOR® and polymeric flooring systems GOODLINE®.
The growing demand for VMP materials, the expansion of the variety and the complex approach to solving the clients' tasks, made it necessary to increase the production and service capacities of the company. In 2010, Research and Production Enterprise "Ekor-Neva" (St. Petersburg), which produced paint materials of the widely known VINICOR® series, merged and transformed into to the RPE "VMP -Neva". For the purpose of expanding the range of services, a service organization "VMP-Engineering" was created. For the system integration and coherent interaction of all VMP enterprises, the VMP Research and Production Holding was formed.
In a quarter of a century, the VMP holding created many viable solutions for the long-term buildings and structures protection. The VMP company constantly works at competitive growth, continues its active expansion into new markets, modernizes and increase its production. In 2017, a new manufacturing complex was built (Aramil town, Sverdlovsk Region). It has modern equipment, automated feed systems of raw components, packaging and aspiration systems and quality control. The new VMP plant is the embodiment of the ultramodern production of industrial protective coatings in Russia.
